Dear Charlie,
There are so many things that I want to tell you but can't! You are gone now and that's so hard! Those people you hung out with killed you!? How could you leave me for them! We were bestfriends; we were more than that! I loved you and you just leave me because of Jenny! Jenny Flick!!! She ruined you! Because of her, you started to do drugs, to drink! And now you're gone! She turned you away from me! I never told anyone your about your family! I could have, but I didn't! She told people, she blamed me and you still left me! Why didn't you believe me? I thought you trusted me; I trusted you! But you're gone and I can't do anything to change that! I miss you Charlie. I love you.
Vera
Dear Jenny,
You won. You took Charlie from me. You turned him against me and you got him all to yourself. But look what happened. He is dead because of you. He would still be here if he would have believed me! You were the bad person! You lied to him and framed me. But you won, and I hope your happy. I lost Charlie a long time ago, but to you, it's fresh. To you, he just left and there is no chance of him returning.
Vera
Dear Mom,
Everything was better when you were here. Every girl needs her mom. I need you now, more than ever! I guess I should tell you that Charlie died, dad quit drinking and I have a job. I work as a pizza delivery girl. Anyways, I wish you had never left.
Vera
Dear Dad,
Thank you for always being here for me! I know I can always count on you! I wouldn't be able to get through this without you. But so you know, working more won't solve all my problems. Forgetting and ignoring all my problems won't make them dissappear. They will always be there, haunting me. But I can't tell you that because you won't listen. I need you to tell me that things will get better, that they take time. I need to hear that Charlie loves me, that mom loves me. Whether I will ever hear those or not doesn't matter. I just want to thank you! I love you Dad.
Vera
Dear Vera,
You never did anything to make Charlie leave. You tried your best to make him stay, but that wasn't enough for him. He chose to leave you for Jenny. Jenny was in control of the situation and Charlie was the victom. Charlie loved you Vera. Your mom didn't leave because of you. She left because she didn't think what she had was good enough. She wanted more when all she needed was right in front of her. She loves you. Your dad tries. He isn't a girl and doesn't know what you need. For him, he ignores things. He ignored your mothers leaving. He is still trying to ignore it. He thinks ignoring Charlie's death is the best thing for you. He loves you and wants what it best for you!

Comments!
Hey Rosemary!
I think that the character analysis is a really good idea! It is very creative and nothing I would have thought of doing! I have also looked at your other posts and you make this sound like a very interesting book! I can't wait to see more!
Hey Nina!
I read this book last quarter and absolutely loved it! It was one of those books that once I started it, I didn't want to put it down! I know Sarah Dessen books always follow the same sort of story line but I still always fall in love with every single book I read of hers. Have you read any of her other books? I think you would enjoy them! Thanks for posting!
Hey Melinda!
This book sounds so sad! It definitely would keep a reader hooked into it! It sounds interesting and not that it's the kind of book that I would like to read, but a book that would keep me guessing! You say that this is real. I know you mean that this kind of things go on with teens everyday, but do you know if it is based off of a real story! And if you are a the kind of person who cries during sad movies/books, would you still enjoy reading this one? Thanks for posting and I look forward to seeing more!
Hey Pierre!
I never people (you) chose your book based on if it's hardback or not... interesting. Anyways, obviously you have started to read considering you have other blogs posted! How do you like it? Are you glad you chose it for your fourth quarter book? Also, I take it you like the blogging assignment because you are going to keep blogging in the summer? Are you going to be reading more books and blogging about them or about how your summer is going? I guess that's all the questions I have. Thanks for posting!

Have you read this book before? If so, leave a comment below and tell me how you like it!
Book Trailer
If you are having any trouble reading Please Ignore Vera Dietz, this is the book trailer for you! It is from the perspective of Vera, the main character. It goes through and explains the book in detail and it is easy to follow. There are many book trailers on YouTube that will help also if you don't like this one but this is my favorite! I highly suggest watching this and reading the book because they are both fantastic!

I used the Secrets, Love, Hurt, Confused, Family, Volleyball, and Friends because they all play a key role in Because I am Furniture. Secrets symbolizes the secret of Anke's family. Having to lie about her father being abusive. Love stands for the love Anke has for her father and family. She would never want to do anything that would hurt any of them. Hurt shows the pain that Anke's siblings go through when they are being abused by their father. It also shows the hurt Anke feels when she can't do anything to stop him. Confused is Anke's number one emotion in the book. Family is a major part in the book. Her family forms a tight bond when the dad is sent to jail. It shows how much we should appreciate our family. Anke loves volleyball and it makes her feel like she has achieved something. Friends are an important part of everyday life. They support you and Anke's friends definitely support her even though they don't know what is really going on. Those are the main words that stand out to me in the book whenever I read it!
The Poster
This is a movie poster I made on Photo Shop. It goes along with the Because I am Furniture video. This poster is supposed to represent the major theme in the book. Anke, the main girl in Because I am Furniture, is the main girl in the poster. She is standing out because she is the narrator and because the whole story is written around her. The two people in the background are her brother and sister. They play a main role in the book because they are the two that are abused by their father. Anke wishes she were them sometimes because she feels like they are the loved ones in her family. The chair symbolizes the chair Anke's father hit her with at the end of the book. You don't need to worry about the "In theatres April 20th" part of the poster because as cool as that would be, it actually isn't a real movie.

Independence day
Independence Day is by Martina McBride. It's about a girl who sees her father abuse her mother and although people know it is happening, no one says anything to get him arrested. She has to carry this burden around because she doesn't want her father in trouble but she still can't stand what he does to her mom. Now, I maybe totally wrong, but when I was the video and listen to the lyrics, that is what I pick up from it. I think this song relates to Because I am Furniture in a lot of ways. They are both about a girl, who has to go through life, knowing what happens behind the wallls of her house and acting like nothing is wrong when she goes out in public. When I think about the title, and how I can relate it to the book, I think of the day that Anke tells her family about her fathers affair with Angeline. Her father goes to jail and it sets her family free from what they've been scared of for so long. That's where I think this song fits so well with the book. There are still many other ways you can connect the two but those are the two that I feel fit the most.
Long time, no blogging
Well hey there! I know it's been a while since I've posted any new blogs but I'm back! Last quarter I read What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen. I love her books and so being able to read one and being able to share my opinions on it and get a grade made it even better. This quarter I read Because I am Furniture.
When I first chose this book, I was not sure if I would like it or not. I asked some of my friends who had read the book about their opinion on it. My feedback was about 50/50. Some said they loved it while others said it was boring and that I should choose a different book. I listened to the few that said they loved and my third quarter book was chosen. After reading it, I'm glad that I listened to them. I loved the book. I do have to admit that at the beginning, it was weird. The format was weird and it was hard to picture the setting. But after the first few pages, it was get getting to be pretty interesting.
Because I am Furniture is about a girl named Anke. She has grown up her entire life, watching her father beat her older brother and sister. She knows her mom sees what he is doing but she just sits and watches, never telling her families secret. Because Anke sees her dad abuse her siblings, she feels unloved because he has never hurt her. She describes her dad as very handsome, charming man. Her friend Angeline thinks that Anke's dad is a marvolous person since she doesn't know who he really is. At one point in the book, Anke catches her father and Angeline in his office, getting it on. After seeing that, Anke can't take holding in her families secret any longer. She runs home and shares what she just saw with her family. Her dad comes home and hears her story, then beating her with a chair. By the end of the book, her father is in jail and Anke's family is living a better, happier life. There is a lot of other, little things that happen but those are the main events.
If you haven't read the book, I highly suggest reading it. It may take some time to like it, but it is really a good book! If you have read it, what are your thoughts on it?
